Cleaning up, Sheldon insists on washing, so I dry. Between yesterday, early this morning—um, whatever that was—and talking about Ricky, my eyes feel heavy, and my body’s not far behind.

“I need to lie down.”

“Okay. I’m going to call my sister. I’ll only be a minute, and then I’ll join you. Sound good?”

His hazel eyes, currently a goldish hue, peer at me deeply, and the contents of my stomach get a kick. But my body can’t meet the request. Not now.

“Sheldon, I’m tired.”

“Me too.”

I nod, pat his shoulder, and return to bed. Crawling under the covers, I reach for my phone before closing my eyes. A message awaits.
